Welcome to the latest news about the future of YOUR home.
As you will probably remember, Great Yarmouth Borough Council is considering important matters which will affect the way its 6300 properties are managed and maintained in the future. Very briefly, the Council’s first option is to continue owning and managing the properties itself; the second is to transfer its housing stock to
a not-for-profit Housing Association.
We are now pleased to present to you this video which will help explain the two options the Council has been advised to choose between. The Council has no preferred option at this stage. The video is presented by Tony Mallion, of BBC Radio Norfolk, and we hope you will find time to watch it because the contents are important to you. You may even find your own friends and neighbours included among the castlist of tenants!
It may also be that you were among the people who attended one of our recent roadshows concerning the possible changes. We’d like to thank everyone who came along and took the opportunity to talk to the Council
and ask questions. Our thanks also to everyone who took part in the video!
When you’ve seen the video we’d like you to let us know what you think about the two different housing options - if you haven’t already done so. You can let us know your views by telephone, email or letter.

On Wednesday 25th May 2005 the Stock Options Appraisal Reference Group met to make a decision on their preferred option for the future of the council housing stock in Great Yarmouth. The group agreed unanimously that the Council should retain the housing stock.
At a meeting later that evening the full Council and Executive confirmed that decision.
Please find a link on the right, to the minutes of the reference group meeting held on the 25th May and the Housing Futures Reference Group report, which summarises the Stock Options Appraisal process and contains the results of tenant consultation.
